Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has advised young cricketers to play all formats of cricket. Emphasizing on red ball cricket, the 51-year-old former cricketer said that I do not see any reason why you should play in one format and not in the other.

On the other hand, Ganguly said on Rishabh Pant playing IPL that after the NCA fitness clearance on March 5, it will be decided what he will do and what not. We will not rush his case. Ganguly is currently a part of the training camp of Delhi Capitals running at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Released Sarfaraz because he is a good test player

On the question of releasing Sarfaraz Khan before the mini auction, Ganguly says that Sarfaraz is a good Test player, but T20 is a different kind of game. Let us tell you that before the auction, Delhi Capitals had released 20 players. Sarfaraz Khan is also included in these.

4 main things about Ganguly Statement…

  1. Regarding Ishan Kishan, he said that this is the first time that a cricketer is ignoring domestic cricket. Before this, Indian cricketers used to play domestic cricket whenever they were free. I am confident that BCCI will take proper action in this matter.
  2. Youth can play both red ball and white ball cricket. IPL and first class career can happen together. There is no conflict between them. First class cricket ends a month before the start of IPL. In such a situation, I don’t see any problem.
  3. Many top class players like Kohli, Rohit, Bumrah, KL Rahul or Rishabh Pant have played Test and white ball cricket. Mitchell Marsh, Harry Brook and David Warner are doing this at the world level. In my time, Sachin, Dravid and I myself used to play both the formats. I don’t see any reason to say that you should play in one format and not in the other.
No player can focus on any one format. It is important for you to pay attention to every format. I am not saying that it is important to play only Ranji. You also have to see the performance of the white ball. You can play Ranji after finishing your domestic season, because there is a lot of gap between the two.
  4. Workload management is only for fast bowlers. Why do batsmen need workload management? It makes sense to give rest to Bumrah. But youth cannot make excuse of workload.
